M-MAP Officially Incorporates

We’re excited to announce that the Mining Microbiome Analytics Platform (M-MAP) has officially incorporated as an independent entity—marking a major milestone in the evolution of microbial innovation for the mining sector

M-MAP began as a consortium-led initiative backed by Teck Resources, Rio Tinto, BRIMM at UBC, BGC Engineering, Genome BC, and others, with foundational support from Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster. Today, it stands as the first integrative genomics platform designed to analyze water, soil, and rock microbiomes across mining sites—supporting a greener, more efficient resource extraction industry.

A Platform Built for Mining Innovation
M-MAP accelerates the creation and deployment of microbial solutions by helping users:

  • Characterize microbial communities using genetic sequencing and bioinformatics

  • Optimize microbial processes for mineral recovery, bioremediation, and site monitoring

  • Access and analyze a curated sample library representing thousands of mining environments

Key Features:

  • Sample Analysis Service: Easy-to-use kits, a companion mobile app, and sequencing through accredited Canadian labs

  • Environmental Context: Integration of remote sensing data for enriched biological interpretation

  • Secure, Shareable Data: Fine-grained access controls for internal teams or external collaborators

Built for Scale, Ready for Impact
M-MAP is already in use across Canada and internationally, providing the microbial and eDNA backbone for modern mine site operations. By dramatically reducing the cost and complexity of solution development, the platform helps mining companies design, validate, and improve biomining technologies faster and more cost-effectively.

This incorporation positions M-MAP to scale its impact—bringing microbial analytics into the mainstream of sustainable mining and enabling new data-driven approaches to extraction, monitoring, and remediation.

Stay tuned for more updates as we expand our reach and prepare for our next phase of growth.
