Mike Kennedy Appointed CEO
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Mike Kennedy as the new Chief Executive Officer of M-MAP.
Dr. Kennedy brings a deep background in AI, genomics, and environmental systems, with a decade of experience building startups, leading applied research, and scaling innovation at the intersection of sustainability and technology. His appointment comes at a pivotal time as M-MAP transitions from its origins into a fully independent company ready to deploy its microbial analytics platform at scale.
Mike is also a Research Associate at the University of British Columbia’s Data Analytics and Intelligent Systems Lab, where he develops applied AI solutions for natural and built environments. His past work spans agriculture, mining, water systems, and urban infrastructure—giving him a unique perspective on how microbial and eDNA data can be used for real-world impact.
“Mike’s appointment marks a strategic shift for us,” said the Board in a joint statement. “His ability to align academic insight with operational execution is exactly what M-MAP needs as we move toward broader industry adoption.”
As CEO, Mike will lead the company’s next phase of growth:
Expanding platform capabilities for microbial and eDNA-based mining applications

Positioning M-MAP at the forefront of biology-enabled environmental technologies
