M-MAP Rebrands to nPhyla

We’re excited to announce that the Mining Microbiome Analytics Platform (M-MAP) has officially rebranded as nPhyla.

This rebrand reflects the platform’s evolution from a consortium-led R&D initiative into a fully independent biotechnology company focused on delivering scalable, field-ready genomic tools for mining and reclamation. The name “nPhyla” is inspired by the foundational role of DNA in all life—and the biological classification phyla, which captures the diversity and power of microbial systems that drive environmental processes in mining ecosystems.

Why the Change?
The transition to nPhyla marks more than just a new name. It signals a broader commitment:

  • From a research platform to a commercial entity

  • From data analysis to decision-ready tools

  • From pilot projects to scalable deployment in the field

What’s Staying the Same:
Our mission to help mining companies better understand and manage their microbial environments through environmental DNA (eDNA), sequencing, and bioinformatics remains unchanged. We're continuing to support biodiversity assessments, process optimization, and microbial solution development through our powerful analytics engine, growing sample library, and secure, cloud-based tools.

What’s Ahead:
nPhyla will build on the foundation established by M-MAP to scale our platform, expand commercial partnerships, and continue developing advanced microbial solutions for the full mining lifecycle—from exploration and operations to closure and remediation.

We’d like to thank our early collaborators, partners, and users for being part of this journey. The transition to nPhyla is the next step in delivering on our promise: to make biology a tool for more sustainable, efficient mining.
